LISTEN / READ / SKIP

Welcome home to NewOldies.com “The Greatest Hits You Never Heard!” So, your first question is probably something like... What exactly is NewOldies.com or for that matter, what are new oldies?

Simply put... Amazing new songs! Incredible new Artists! In the classic styles of the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, & 80’s. Please know that NewOldies.com is in no way trying to replace the fabulous wonder years of the 40’s through the 80’s. We love them just the way they were. We are simply offering a high quality, familiar sounding alternative to the millions of you who have expressed your growing concerns with today’s music scene.

We have gone to great lengths and expense to make this possible, and it is our sincere and on-going wish that each and every one of you will find something you love. In an effort to make your visit with us as pleasurable as possible, please allow me to take you on a brief tour, which will quickly answer most of your questions about basic navigation as well as the meaning of the various category titles.

It should be noted that this site is extremely intuitive and designed to accommodate even the most novice user. So, if the unthinkable should happen and my tutorial begins to bore you... no offence taken, or you should just happen to be the “jump right in and figure it out yourself type,” simply hit the “TUTORIAL LISTEN / READ / SKIP” button located at the top of the page and by all means, go for it! Trust me; you’re not going to need a science degree to find your way around this site! With that said... let’s get started.

One of the first things you will probably notice are the seven main category title tabs located across the upper portion of the home page. From left to right, these include “Home,” “About Us,” “Listen to the Music,” “Bill’s Board,” “General Store,” “Shopping Cart” and “The Attic.” When placing the cursor over any of these tabs you will immediately see a variety of sub-categories that appear on a drop down menu. Simply click on any sub-category that you desire and you’ll be taken to a specific page directly relating to the subject matter you have chosen. Why don’t we begin with the first main category tab, which is found at the upper left portion of the page entitled “Home.”

  1. Under this heading you will find the standard list of self explanatory sub-category tabs, such as “Frequently Asked Questions” “Contact us,” “Links,” as well as an even more in depth “Site Map” to aid in the overall view and understanding of how the website is constructed.

The “Search” tab is just as it implies, if you want to find something specific, type in the key word or phrase in the provided box and presto... there it is.

When clicking on the “Endorsements” tab expect to find some pretty impressive and shall we say, rather flattering statements about NewOldies.com from various heavy hitters in the music industry. Shameless self promotion, yes... but what can I say... even we like to show off once in awhile.

The “Place An Ad” tab includes all aspects of advertizing from the various types and sizes of small business ads to huge corporate sponsorships.

“The Drive-Inn” tab will reveal one of the most popular and visible forums on our site; showcasing ads on an old fashioned drive-inn movie screen... Much like the ads of yesteryear during intermission time.

The last sub-category listed under “Home” is “Writer Artist Submissions.” This subject is directed specifically at the creative community of songwriter’s, vocalists, and producers as well as individual and corporate owners of masters. Its purpose is to explain the “do’s and don’ts” for submitting songs, vocal demos and / or master recordings to our website. Let’s move on to our second main category, “About Us.”

  2. Under this heading expect to find sub-category listings like “What’s A New Oldie?,” “Our Philosophy,” “How It All Began,” “Back To A Better Time,” “True Talent” and “We Hear Ya!”

Each of these topics will give you a brief, yet uniquely informative perspective on just what it is that NewOldies.com is really all about.

O.K., time for our third main category, “Listen To The Music.”

  3. Without a doubt this is the single biggest reason that so many people of all ages come from all around the world to visit our site! Oops, there I go showing off again, sorry about that.

Here you will find sub-categories that will help you quickly narrow down the type of music or artist you are looking for. To greatly simplify this process we have given you several options depending on your personality type, “A” or “B”.

The first option is intended for those who are type “A.” This is the person who is basically an explorer, someone who would have got along famously in the days of the old “Wild West.” A bit more on the impulsive side, you know someone who likes to get right to the music and then find out more information later. O.K. so I admit it, I’m one of those... what can I say, patience is not my greatest virtue but I am working on it and I must say the medication has worked wonders.

Where was I? Oh yes... This is the bare bones section which lists all of the new oldies in alphabetical order, each of which is accompanied by the correlating recording artist name. This list can be easily accessed by clicking the “Song Titles” sub-category tab. When the page loads just have a blast and click away to your hearts content. I guarantee you’re going to find something that will rock your world!

Now, if you happen to be a type “B” personality or shall we say, a bit more reserved and analytical, you’ll probably want to click the “Catalogue” tab which reveals the whole ball of wax. Here you may study all of the provided information before choosing a specific artist or song.

In this section you will find the entire list of recording artists in alphabetical order, as well as each and every song title they perform. To make your selection even easier, all the songs have been broken down into separate categories by era, genre and tempo. This way you know exactly what decade the recording sounds like it came from... including the specific musical style such as pop, country, rhythm & blues, rock, jazz, fusion or any other blend.

Depending upon what kind of mood you’re in, the tempo classification is great because it immediately lets you know whether the song is a ballad, medium tempo, fast or just good old funky.

We’ve even provided you with a well known similar sounding classic artist or two in an effort to help you really narrow things down.

In addition to all of this, you’ll find photos, beautiful hand drawn portraits and even graphic illustrations that give you clues as to the subject matter of each song.

Also included, is a complete set of lyrics as well as brief bio blurbs which provide insightful information about each of the recording artists.

Lastly, and most importantly, when it comes to our customers making a purchase, we not only like to give you the biggest bang for your buck, but we like to take as much of the guess work out of the equation as possible. Therefore we offer virtually two full minutes preview time for these one of a kind extremely high quality recordings. This way you know exactly what you are getting before making a purchase.

Moving right along... our fourth main category is “Bill’s Board.”

  4. This is a very popular spot on our website that showcases the latest top selling New Oldies. Upon clicking either the main “Bill’s Board” tab or the sub-category entitled “This Weeks Top Ten,” you will discover our weekly charts. Which not only enables you to instantly see which songs are
currently the most popular, but by simply clicking on the song titles you can listen to them as well.

To be honest, many of our regular visitors love to just hang out here and vibe with our infamous resident surfer dude, Bill. There’s just something about his smile and the relaxing sound of the waves hitting the beach. I’ve gotta tell you, he’s one mighty cool dude and I ought to know... being “The Beach Boys” former manager... Oops, there I go bragging again. Sometimes I just can’t help myself.

Alright, it’s time for our fifth main category heading which is the “General Store.”

  5. This one is pretty much a no brainer. Just click on the main “General Store” tab and walk right in through the front door! If you see something you like, just follow the super simple directions and you’re rockin’!

And by the way, if you already know ahead of time which item or items you would like to purchase, simply click on them directly from the drop down menu and you’ll be there before you know it.

Next, our sixth main category heading is entitled “Shopping Cart.”

  6. Once again this is your basic no brainer. The sole purpose of the shopping cart is to provide you with a simple way of keeping track of your current shopping status.

At the click of a mouse you can instantly add or delete any items you wish. And always remember, when it comes to shopping at NewOldies.com, your security is our utmost priority!

We love and appreciate our customers, so we want you to know that every possible precaution has been taken to prevent your personal information from falling into the wrong hands.

Which brings us to our seventh and final main category heading, “The Attic.” After all, everybody always needs a little extra storage space, right?

  7. Don’t you just love to go digging through the old stuff every now and then to see what kind of forgotten memories you might rediscover?

Well, they’re only a click away, so just press the main “Attic” tab and you’ll find yourself upstairs surrounded by all types of wonderful nostalgia.

In the center of the attic you will see two filing cabinets. Each cabinet contains four drawers that are individually titled indicating their contents. In order to see what’s inside, simply pick a drawer and click on the title.

As usual we offer you another option for accessing these titles. So, if you would rather go straight to the contents of the drawers and completely bypass the attic itself, just click directly on any of the sub-category tabs on the drop down menu located directly under the main attic tab.

And don’t be surprised at what kind of memories you just might uncover. So, from everyone here at NewOldies.com all we have to say is... Have fun... fun... fun!

  2. After clicking “Buy Now!” you’ll be taken to the “Song & Artist info” page where you will find a small rectangular box that says “Choose File Size... ” Just click any of the four choices (Normal - Picky - Pickier - Pickiest). These choices are offered for patrons who prefer to have options regarding quality verses file-size. Typically speaking, the larger the file-size the better the sound quality, so debatably, the “MP3 320 KBPS CBR” being the largest file-size, takes top honors in this department). However, some people are very conscious of how much space the song-file will occupy on their computer or mobile music device/player. This is where the last two choices come in handy (Picker = AAC /Advanced Audio Compression using VBR “Variable Bit Rate”) and Pickiest = an MP3 file using “VBR” (Variable Bit Rate). Here we have a slightly different technology which utilizes more information as needed and less when not needed (Thus, high sound quality in a relatively smaller package). In other words, good sound in a little less space. Please Note: Before choosing either of the latter two formats make sure that you have the proper player/software to support these technologies). Lastly, it should be known that not all people hear the subtle differences between these various formats. Most are thrilled with the results when choosing “Normal” which is the smallest file size that we offer.
  3. After you have chosen the appropriate file size, just click “Add to Cart”. Continue shopping or just click the “Checkout” tab to proceed with your purchase / download.
  4. At this point, all returning customers need only enter their username and password. All new customers must fill in the requested information: (country, first & last name, complete billing address, phone, email and create a user name & password).
  5. Once you have finished entering your personal information or username/password (which ever applies) click “next” at the bottom of the page. You will need to fill in your card holder name as it appears on the credit card then select the card type, card number, expiration date and CCV code.
  6. Review the credit-card information that you entered. If correct, click “Place Order”
  7. You are now taken to the “Order Details” page. Follow the instructions and click the main “Shopping Cart” tab and choose “My Profile” on the drop-down menu. You will be taken to a new page. Click Downloads then select the item to be downloaded by clicking “Download now” next to the selected item.

Next, you may be given several choices (Open - Save - Save As - Cancel etc.) However, it should be noted that these options may or may not be offered depending upon the way your browser preferences are set. So, whenever given the choice, always click “Save” or “Save as” first! (Otherwise, the song-file and lyric that you purchased may not be saved to your computer!)
  9. Choose where you would like the song-file and lyric to be saved. Then click on what ever your preference is (My Documents, My Music, Downloads etc. etc.) Then click Save.
  10. When the download is complete, simply click Open / Open Folder or the appropriate tab to listen to the song and/or read the lyric.

Now that wasn’t so bad was it?
